A Day of Exploration and Connection with Penn State Behrend

Erie, PA — Adam Dunn, our talented Automation Engineer, recently embarked on an inspiring visit to Penn-State Behrend alongside his colleague Joe Weaver. Dr. Yohannes Haile, an Assistant Teaching Professor of Management in the IBE, Industrial Engineering, and MMM programs, graciously led the duo on an insightful journey through the campus.

Their adventure kicked off at the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Center, where Dunn captivated students as a guest lecturer in Dr. Haile’s Industrial Robot Application class. His interactive talk on “Why We Automate” sparked lively discussions and left students buzzing with excitement.

The exploration continued as Dr. Haile escorted Dunn and Weaver to the Prischak Robotics and Automation Lab. There, they engaged with enthusiastic student lab attendants and delved into various cutting-edge robotic technologies. The visit also included an enlightening meeting with Timothy Kurzweg, the School of Engineering Director, where they shared candid conversations about student preparedness for the workforce and brainstormed potential collaborations between Acutec and the Automation Lab.

Their tour didn’t stop there. Dr. Haile guided them through the expansive School of Engineering labs in the Burke building, showcasing the impressive array of engineering courses and state-of-the-art resources available to students. Both Dunn and Weaver were particularly impressed by the outstanding 100% job placement rate for Plastics Engineering Technology graduates.

In summary, the visit was a vibrant exchange of ideas and marked a promising step toward fostering future collaborations between Penn-State Behrend and Acutec.
