Acutec Precision Aerospace dedicates itself to providing challenging and unique opportunities to employees of all generations. Vera Meadow, a current senior at Saegertown High School, is evidence of this commitment. This past summer, Vera worked at Acutec, but her family’s history with the company goes back further. Both her grandfather, Dave Tiffany, and her mother, Nerissa Galt, currently work at Acutec.
During her internship, she worked on inspecting parts in Final Inspection, helped on expedited jobs, and ran the CMM if needed. Although she currently plans to go to university for political science, this opportunity provided the foundation for achieving her career goals. Vera knows that she wants to work with customers in a larger environment, and through shadowing other employees she came to understand the significance of a healthy relationship with customers. The experience was rewarding—Vera emphasizes that she felt she was learning about new machines and processes regularly.
“I am always learning about different machines while meeting new people. I love to know that my coworkers are learning with me as well.”
Outside of work, Vera enjoys cheering at Saegertown High School and participating in theater at the Meadville Community Theatre—she enjoys playing a character that is unlike her. As for her favorite aircraft, she states that the Bell AH-1 Cobra tops her list. In her advice to future interns, she states that they shouldn’t be afraid to ask questions, as someone is always willing to help find an answer.
Thanks for everything you do Vera!
